SDG-2: Zero Hunger: Engineers support this goal by designing sustainable farming practices, enhancing food production systems, and developing technologies that reduce food loss and waste. Their work includes improving irrigation systems, advancing crop management methods, and applying genetic engineering to increase crop yields and resilience.

SDG-3: Good Health and Well-being: Engineers contribute to better healthcare by designing medical devices, improving healthcare infrastructure, and creating innovative solutions for diagnosis, treatment, and disease prevention. Engineers also play a key role in public health by developing water purification, waste management, and sanitation systems that help reduce health risks.

SDG-6: Clean water and sanitation: Engineers supports clean water and sanitation by applying chemical principles to water treatment, purification, and wastewater management. It helps remove contaminants, control pollution, and ensure safe, sustainable water supplies.

SDG-7: Affordable and Clean Energy: Engineers contributes to affordable and clean energy by developing efficient fuels, batteries, solar cells, and alternative energy materials, helping reduce costs, improve energy efficiency, and minimize environmental impact.

SDG-9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure: Engineers contribute by designing and constructing resilient infrastructure, advancing sustainable industrial practices, and driving innovation across critical sectors such as transportation, energy, and manufacturing..

SDG-13: Climate Action: Engineers turn climate goals into real-world tech: Renewable energy systems (solar, wind, hydro, geothermal), Energy-efficient buildings and smart grids, Low- emission transportation (EVs, rail, alternative fuels), Carbon capture, storage, and utilization technologies.

SDG-14: Life below water: Engineers design systems that stop pollutants from reaching oceans: Wastewater treatment plants that remove nutrients, plastics, and toxins, Oil spill prevention, detection, and cleanup technologies, Industrial effluent treatment systems, Storm water management to reduce coastal runoff pollution.

SDG-15: Life on land: Engineers play a vital role in protecting “Life on Land” by designing technologies and systems that conserve ecosystems, reduce land degradation, and support sustainable use of natural resources.

The Physical Sciences Department supports the Sustainable Development Goals through teaching, research, and innovation, contributing to quality education, clean energy, environmental protection and climate action. We empower students through innovation, social responsibility and the department supports sustainable industry and responsible resource use. This commitment ensures that scientific expertise is applied toward sustainable and socially responsible development.
